Introducing the Cookie & Tag Database

Shared by Product • September 23, 2026

Consent category, risk level, vendor, and removal guidance for every cookie and tag ObservePoint finds.

You run a scan and a cookie named lidc comes back, or a tag from a campaign you're fairly sure ended months ago. Figuring out what it was meant Googling the name, checking Cookiepedia, and asking the marketing team, then getting three answers that didn't agree.

The Cookie & Tag Database is built into ObservePoint. Search any cookie or tag by name, including ones that have never shown up in your reports, and you'll see:

  • What it does, in plain language and in technical detail
  • The vendor who created it, with links to their site and privacy policy
  • The consent category most companies assign it
  • A risk level, and the reasoning behind that rating
  • How to remove it
  • References you can cite

Every definition is reviewed by a person on our team, based on what we observe on real enterprise sites.

It shows up where you already work

Definitions appear in audit and journey reports, grid reports, HAR Analyzer, LiveConnect, tag rules, and consent categories. In grid reports, definition fields behave like any other column, so you can filter, sort, group, search, and export them.

Add your own record on top

Create custom fields for legal approver, technical owner, review date, or internal notes, and attach them to ObservePoint's definitions. You can also create your own definitions for the cookies and tags specific to your organization. "Who approved this?" stops living in a spreadsheet only one person can find.

Getting started

Open Cookie & Tag Database from the main navigation, or select a cookie or tag in any report to jump to its definition.

The library, definition detail pages, and matching criteria are available on Contract accounts. Sample and Free accounts see definitions in context inside reports.
